Location: 420 Walnut St Philadelphia PA 19106
Open Date: Mar 17, 2026
Deadline: Apr 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
The Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania announces a search to fill a recently established postdoctoral fellowship that will combine teaching, public scholarship and research in the field of contemporary antisemitism studies.
The appointment, renewable for up to two years, combines teaching students, helping to develop learning opportunities and other resources for the broader public, and serving as a source of expertise within and beyond the university. The person in the role will also serve as an adviser to the Katz Center as it continues with a multi-year initiative to support new research in the study of antisemitism.
The applicant who is awarded the fellowship must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. degree (dissertation deposited) by July 31, 2026. The ideal candidate for the position will be a scholar who is enthusiastic about teaching and research and has an ability to make connections to the broader scholarly treatment of racism, prejudice, and hatred, as well as the study of how to address and overcome them. We are especially interested in applicants approaching antisemitism from a social-scientific perspective.
Application Requirements
Consideration of applications will begin on April 20, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries may be addressed to Steven Weitzman (wsteve@sas.upenn.edu).
The fellowship is available to holders of a doctorate from any discipline relevant to the position. Those who have not defended their thesis at the time of application should supply a statement attesting to their expected graduation date by a departmental graduate chair or supervisor.
