Position Description
Performs Academic Advising, educational, professional, or other advanced Academic Advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Responsibilities may include assisting in the analysis of special and/or complex problems. May supervise Academic Advisors or other employees. Performance is based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. Work is performed under standard supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

About the Department and/or College
Texas Tech K-12, a unit of the Texas Tech University Online division, is a state-approved online kindergarten through 12th-grade school that has been meeting students' needs for more than 25 years. Affiliated with Texas Tech University, a Carnegie tier-one research institution, Texas Tech K-12 boasts a rigorous curriculum that allows students to work ahead, make up failed credits, and achieve their goals from wherever they are. Texas Tech K-12 is a Candidate for Accreditation with NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI. Texas Tech K-12 began in 1993 as a "Special Purpose District" designed to help students whose educational needs were not adequately met by traditional school districts. Since then, we have grown to serve students across the country and more than 70 nations around the world.
Major/Essential Functions
- Assist leaders and others in the department with projects and assignments, including research of information. Responsible for helping TTU K-12 provide global educational opportunities, market recognition, and increase sales.
- Maintain and monitor student files. Follow up with students and parents regarding enrollments and progress with coursework. Contact student frequently and routinely to help foster a sense of community for our students.
- Approve student admissions and enrollments, work with registrars, school officials, and other agencies involved in a student's education. Evaluate transcripts and ensure students are enrolled according to Texas graduation requirements.
- Handle inbound and outbound customer service inquiries via email, phone, or any other means TTU K-12 deems necessary to support our customers. Properly utilize all systems to document customer service interaction. Mediate between faculty and students. Serve as primary point of contact between students and Learning Coaches and teachers and/or school administration.
- Assist in matching high school graduates with appropriate post-high school experiences. Help students and parents in understanding the college admission and financial aid processes by providing access to current, clear, and concise information concerning the wide-range of post-secondary educational opportunities available, entrance requirements, financial aid, curricular offering, costs, admission, and financial aid deadlines, and the variety of early admission and early decision programs available.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and other ethical standards. Pursue and apply continuous education and training to increase efficacy with the dynamic needs of their students and families.
- Increase student and Learning Coach engagement within the school to drive improved academic growth. Provide consistent support throughout the student experience.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, plus one year relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Be knowledgeable of confidentiality standards, including FERPA.
- Knowledge regarding graduation plans and college and career readiness.
- Master's Degree Preferred or Texas Certified Teacher Certification.
- Two years working with students in an academic K-12 environment.
- Counseling experience.
- Education and training may be substituted for previous work experience.
Pay Range
$48,000 - $63,700 - $78,400
