Position Description
Performs manual work in the operation of heavy, medium, and light mobile equipment, and the maintenance of all such equipment pertaining to assigned area. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

About the Department and/or College

Major/Essential Functions

Drive, maneuver and service equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain.
Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes.
Observe entire grounds and identify and document all problems and/or hazards.
Performs related work as needed.
Utilize proper safety equipment and techniques to prevent personal injury and property damage and complies with the grounds maintenance safety program to include all safety and health rules, regulations and operating policies and procedures.
Maintain all aspects of grounds including turf, irrigation systems, fences, trees, shrubs, ground covers, walkways, and hardscapes.
Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.

Required Qualifications
Eighth grade education or equivalent plus two years related experience in the operation of medium mobile equipment. Commercial drivers license or willingness to obtain such a license. Additional job related experience may substitute on a year-by-year basis for required education as long as applicant possesses desired reading and writing skills.

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Class A Commercial Driver's License
Knowledge and experience in all grounds maintenance activities and equipment.

Pay Range
$14.04 - $18.27 - $22.45
