Position Description
Supervises and directs work involving direction of the activities of grounds keeping employees and particiapting in moderately heavy manual work. Supervises ten or more employees. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to hazardous equipment.

About the Department and/or College


Major/Essential Functions
  • Perform related duties as required to support departmental operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work activities based on priorities, available resources, equipment, and employee skill levels.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Conduct or arrange training for employees in safety practices, equipment operation, repair, maintenance techniques, and established procedures.
  • Monitor employee productivity and performance; provide coaching, counseling, and guidance to address work related issues and skill deficiencies.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, including hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, or termination, in accordance with policy.
  • Serve as essential personnel, including availability for on-call emergency maintenance and campus preparation during inclement or hazardous weather conditions.


Required Qualifications
Completion of high school or the equivalent, preferably including courses in Spanish. Three years experience in grounds maintenance, including experience in equipment operation and gardening techniques.

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License.
  • Have knowledge and experience in landscaping construction techniques.


Pay Range
$21.39 - $27.84 - $34.23
