Job Summary:
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program in the College of Health Science and Public Health Administration at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a full-time (9 month) tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank to begin August 16, 2026. We desire a team-oriented individual who will collaborate to deliver an excellent educational experience in a student-centered environment. Qualified candidates with all areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with interest and experience teaching the integumentary system, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, lifespan development, professional responsibilities and/or introductory examination and intervention skills. Rank will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Senior rank faculty (i.e., associate and full professor) are encouraged to apply.

The DPT Program is located at EWU Spokane, a health sciences campus with modern space and facilities next to downtown Spokane. The Spokane campus is a satellite of EWUs main campus in Cheney, WA, a short 20-minute drive from Downtown Spokane. Our residential DPT Program is 33 months in length, has 9 full-time faculty members, and admits 38 students each fall. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. Our longstanding program has been CAPTE accredited for decades. Spokane is the heart of the Inland Northwest, with excellent restaurants, theaters, shopping, skiing, hiking, lakes, and high-quality schools and affordable housing.

The expected salary upon hire is $76,262 (Assistant Professor), $91,576 (Associate Professor) and $116,464 (Full Professor). Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • State of Washington PT license eligible
  • An earned academic doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc, or equivalent). ABD candidates will not be considered
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education
  • 3 years clinical practice experience as a physical therapist
  • Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Additional Required Qualifications - Associate Professor
  • 6 years experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited entry-level DPT program
  • 5 years clinical practice experience as a physical therapist
  • Established research agenda and record of scholarship (publications, national presentations, external grant funding)
  • Board certification within specialty area, and/or residency or fellowship training
  • Experience in academic program administration or other leadership roles
  • Experience participating in the CAPTE 10-year reaccreditation process; specifically, contributing to the self-study report (SSR)
  • Demonstrated professional involvement at the state or national level
  • Active service to the PT profession

Additional Required Qualifications - Professor
  • 10 years experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited entry-level DPT program
  • 5 years clinical practice experience as a physical therapist
  • Established research agenda and record of scholarship (publications, national presentations, external grant funding)
  • Board certification within specialty area, and/or residency or fellowship training
  • Experience in academic program administration or other leadership roles
  • Experience participating in the CAPTE 10-year reaccreditation process; specifically, contributing to the self-study report (SSR)
  • Demonstrated professional involvement at the state or national level
  • Active service to the PT profession

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in use of classroom technology
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
  • A record of scholarship (publications, national presentations, grants) that identifies a line of research and grantsmanship

Other Skills and Abilities:

Job Duties:
Position responsibilities include teaching doctoral-level courses consistent with expertise and department needs, advising DPT students, active participation in research and scholarship activities, and service to the university, community, and profession. A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first semester of the appointment. Additionally, all faculty are expected to:
  • engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning,
  • meet all scheduled classes,
  • plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales,
  • schedule and attend office hours,
  • turn in grades according to established deadlines,
  • advise students on Department, College and University requirements and career opportunities,
  • supervise students in laboratory and simulated learning experiences,
  • collaborate with faculty to design high-quality focused experiential learning activities, and
  • facilitate relevancy between department curriculum and industry needs.





Maintaining current and valid licensure, as required by the position, is the responsibility of the employee and shall be done at their own expense.


Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.Percent of Time: 100
Conditions of Employment:
To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than August 16, 2026.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

After starting employment, employees will complete the required training via Canvas. Workplace Belonging training will be available on December 1st and should be completed by March 31st, 2026.
