Position Announcement


The Department of Architecture Engineering Design (www.uvu.edu/aed) invites applications for a one-year lecturer faculty position in Architecture Engineering Design to begin January 2026.

The Architecture Engineering Design lecturer teaches a wide range of undergraduate drafting and design courses in the disciplines of architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural steel. The faculty member attends and participates in department meetings and may serve on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching.

The Architecture Engineering Design Department offers an A.A.S and A.S. in Engineering Design Technology, undergraduate certificates, and a BArch in Architecture. The Department also provides service courses for students majoring in construction management, pre-engineering, and engineering.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery.
  • Follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials to fit teaching style and may make minor modifications to courses. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
  • Serves the department by attending departmental meetings and serving on department committees related to their area of expertise and teaching. No college or university-level assignments are expected or required.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in Drafting and Design or a related field.
  • Full-time industrial experience in drafting and design with an area of expertise in at least one of the following drafting/design disciplines: architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural steel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a field related to Architecture and Engineering Design or education.
  • Extensive knowledge of one of the disciplines' current 2D/3D modeling software.
  • Three years full-time industrial experience in drafting and design with an area of expertise in at least one of the following drafting/design disciplines: architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, structural steel.
  • Teaching experience in a related field.
