The Department of Psychological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology to begin September 1, 2026.
Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
As a faculty member in the Department of Psychological Sciences, you will be expected to: 1) Contribute to teaching mission of the Counseling Psychology doctoral program and department through supervision in the in-house Psychology Clinic, other graduate and undergraduate teaching, and mentoring doctoral students; 2) Develop a record of peer-reviewed research; 3) Compete for external funding; and 4) Provide service to the Counseling Psychology doctoral program, department, college, university, and profession.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must receive their Ph.D. from an APA or CPA accredited Counseling Psychology program by August 2026.
- Applicants must have completed an APA or CPA accredited clinical internship by August 2026.
- This position is open to any research area within Counseling Psychology. However, the position requires a strong record of research productivity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, grant submissions, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- A record of pursuing funding (both successful and otherwise), particularly from federal agencies (e.g., NIH, NSF, etc.),
- Formal experience teaching (TA or Instructor of Record) at either the graduate or undergraduate levels,
- Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate students, particularly doctoral students.
