Job Summary

A temporary position is being offered to help support the CU Boulder Green Labs Program on projects, outreach, and ongoing operations of the program, benefiting sustainability in scientific laboratories. There will be a wide range of work responsibilities depending on the week-to-week needs of the program, including responding to email inquiries, helping program staff to support the work of student assistants, conducting outreach to lab members and lab departments, coordinating projects, and helping with ongoing aspects of the program such as the ultra-low temperature freezer program, mobile freezers, and lab-specific recycling. Who We Are

The Environmental Center leads locally and globally by providing direct services and expertise to our campus community and beyond. Services are provided in the areas of zero waste, sustainable transportation, renewable energy programs, sustainability training, educational events and more. Founded in 1970 by students, the Environmental Center is the nation's longest-standing, largest and most accomplished student-led center of its kind. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Assist with ongoing efforts and operations of the program

• Support needs of ongoing program efforts such as lab-specific material recycling, newsletter articles, freezers, etc.
• Attend regularly established meetings.
• Support projects of student employees.
• Respond to emails and lab member requests.

Help support projects which are current priorities of the program

• Example projects include My Green Lab Certification, chemical sharing, green chemistry efforts, lab cleanup efforts, new waste diversion focuses, and contests.

Outreach to labs and lab departments

• Raise awareness about CU Boulder Green Labs Program opportunities for labs and lab departments to participate in.

What You Should Know

• This role is a hybrid position. The expectation is for an average of at least 10 hours per week to be in-person on the CU Boulder campus.

What We Can Offer

• The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 per hour.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

• Completion of Bachelor's Degree in science or environmental related field.
• Experience working in a research laboratory or for a sustainability program.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What You Will Need

• Good communication, problem-solving, delegation, and time management skills as a Lead Worker.
• Ability to work well with people.
• Resourceful with keeping projects moving forward with input from program staff.
