Job Summary
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking two PT Counselors to support the Title V HSI Grant for Las Positas College. Applicants will be expected to provide comprehensive academic, career, transfer, and personal counseling. The successful candidates will provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community college populations; the candidates also will show an understanding of how these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide counseling to students, which includes the development of student educational plans based on certificate, associate degree, transfer, and career goals;
2. Provide holistic academic, career, transfer and personal counseling, and referrals to appropriate resources;
3. Proactive support for Hispanic/Latinx and low-income students throughout their academic journey;
4. Continued outreach to K-12 partners, including intentional identification of underserved students into concurrent/dual enrollment;
5. Works with the faculty counselors on the eight academic area Student Success Teams to coordinate their schedules, to orient them to the processes and behaviors of team members, to assist in training them on appropriate software and their changing roles and responsibilities;
6. Organize student Data Dashboard by pathway and disaggregated demographics;
7. Ongoing campus training on tech platforms;
8. Complete campus climate survey to provide insight into elevating care, confidence, and student belonging.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. One (1) year of community college or higher education counseling experience;
2. Knowledge of working with the Hispanic/Latinx population;
3. Spanish speaking/writing/reading preferred.
