Co-Host, Here & Now
WBUR is Boston's NPR. A public media leader committed to exceptional journalism on-air, online, on-demand and on stage. Our mission is to produce high-quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community for an expanding circle of people. Our vision is to become a daily habit for every person in Boston and beyond who seeks to engage with the most consequential issues of our times.
WBUR is best known as an exceptional audio brand, reaching approximately 6.5 million listeners across the country each week with two national shows, Here & Now and On Point. A pioneering podcaster, we've built new audiences with critically acclaimed podcasts from Endless Thread to Circle Round, and Beyond All Repair.
A trusted and beloved local news source, WBUR has one of the strongest local newsrooms in the country, known for reporting original stories of significance to Boston and the region.
Beyond audio, WBUR produces an impressive roster of newsletters from WBUR Today and Cognoscenti to short-run series like Field Guide to Boston and seasonal election guides. WBUR CitySpace on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston is our state-of-the-art events venue with luminaries from Boston and beyond, live on stage.
As a non-profit, WBUR has no paywall and no subscription fee - audience support makes our news and programming accessible for all.
Here & Now, the trusted midday newsmagazine co-produced by WBUR and NPR and heard by more than four million listeners each week across nearly 500 stations, is seeking a new Co-Host to join its team.
We're looking for a journalist with exceptional editorial judgment, a passion for original storytelling, and the ability to lead thoughtful, resonant conversations with newsmakers, cultural figures, and changemakers. This is a rare opportunity to connect with a national audience - informing, inspiring, and engaging millions across broadcast, digital, and live platforms.
As Co-Host, you'll help shape the daily national dialogue, bringing intelligence, empathy, and rigor to breaking news, deep-dive features, and cultural coverage. You'll collaborate closely with a talented team of producers, editors, reporters, and fellow hosts to deliver high-impact journalism with clarity, warmth, and authority.
This position reports directly to the Executive Producer.

- Host Here & Now on a daily basis (or as determined by a three-host rotation schedule).
- Deliver news with clarity, warmth and authority while maintaining WBUR and NPR's editorial standards.
- Work closely with editors and producers to craft a compelling mix of distinctive journalism and rich storytelling.
- Engage audiences across platforms, including podcasts, social media, live streams, newsletters and video, with an eye toward innovation and growth.
- Pitch, secure and shape exclusive, engaging interviews with key newsmakers.
- Report from the field as needed, delivering on-the-ground coverage of major events or enterprise stories.
- Write and edit broadcast copy and promotional material with precision, creativity and journalistic integrity.
- Stay well-informed by reading widely and keeping current on news, issues and ideas.
- Collaborate with show leadership to foster an inclusive, supportive and high-performing team culture.
- Support fundraising efforts, including participating in on-air membership drives, digital campaigns and donor events.

- Passion for public medias mission and values, with a deep respect for editorial independence, diversity, and public trust.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive under deadline pressure and to manage complex, fast-changing news situations with poise and authority.
- Ability to identify, pitch, and report enterprising, original stories.
- Talent for narrative storytelling across platforms.
- Familiarity with audio production workflows, digital media tools and social media best practices.
- Deep knowledge of current events, culture, and issues affecting a diverse, national audience.
