About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Assistant Director of Creative Video is responsible for maintaining the established brand of SMU Athletics, as well as manage and lead student interns.

The Assistant Director of Creative Video is responsible for creating video content for internal and external use and in-game presentation. This position will work closely with assigned SMU athletic teams (sport responsibilities TBD after hiring), travel with assigned sports teams, and create content for internal and social media platforms.

The Assistant Director of Creative Video should possess the ability to conceptualize and execute projects from start to finish while seamlessly following SMU's branding guidelines and study industry trends and innovative solutions that continue to drive the SMU brand forward.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for creating video content for internal and external use and in-game presentation.

  • Work closely with assigned SMU athletic teams (sport responsibilities, TBD after hiring) and creating content for social media platforms.

  • Research and assess new video methods and technology and make recommendations for new equipment, modifications or process enhancements as appropriate.

  • This role will be expected to work games and events that take place on nights and weekends and occasionally holidays.

  • This role will be expected to travel frequently with assigned sports teams.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's is required.

A minimum of one year of experience working full-time in a college athletics department or at the professional sports level is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidates should have the ability to interact seamlessly with multiple coaching staffs, be able to assist in moving and setting up camera equipment and set backdrops, and be able to stand/sit for long hours.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro and After Effects).
