Job Description
The individual in this position serves as the direct customer interface for end users and management providing guidance and planning in the use of existing technologies as well as the provision of new IT solutions through emerging technologies. This effort includes working with the UTSA departments to design, create, implement, and maintain technology changes or upgrades, and includes working with staff on IT related projects and research. The position responds to end user requests for technology support including the resolution of complex end user requests. This is a "high touch" position who will be supporting senior executives as well as line staff. This individual will also conduct training of staff on key applications, particularly the Microsoft suite of tools . Tasks for this person will vary from day to day.
Responsibilities
- Operates as the on-site expert for support and problem resolution and/or leads a team performing similar functions.
- Assesses, analyzes, diagnoses and resolves users complex technical issues by performing local and remote testing and when needed, partners with internal/external support to create the best technical solution.
- Provides skilled installation and support on new solutions including both equipment configuration and installation of software.
- Work is performed mostly without supervision.
- Trains users on computer use, best practices, security, and computer/phone software and applications.
- Creates and maintains documentation in support of these activities. Creates documentation & mentors/trains existing team members on new technologies.
- Trains new team members on existing technologies.
- Works with staff and leadership on information technology related projects and research.
- Analyzes staff and department business needs and works with staff on information technology solutions to meet those needs and makes recommendations for purchases.
- Analyzes complex technical issues and develops project plans for problem resolution.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
- Customer Service/ Problem Solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational skills.
- Communications skills, verbal and written.
- Public speaking.
- Basic Active Directory knowledge.
- Moderate to advanced Office 365 knowledge.
- Basic Networking knowledge.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Collaboration Tools (Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive) and Zoom
Preferred qualifications:
- Associates degree
- Bachelors degree
- 7 years of relevant experience
- A total of 2 years of demonstrable desktop support experience.
- One or more of the following certifications: A+, Network+, Microsoft Technology Associate
- (Infrastructure),Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
- Associate or similar.
- Proven ability to deliver training to individuals or groups.
- Some video/course creation experience a plus.
