Position Summary: The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

This position will serve as a Cat Tran/shuttle bus driver on Western Carolina University's campus. Shuttles transport students, faculty and staff to various locations on campus according to established schedules and during emergency situations. The driver will also complete operating reports, inspect, clean and perform pre-trip safety inspections. Driver may be required to work different shifts as needed.

The operation of shuttles is within and in close proximity of the WCU campus. There are times during the day that the campus is very busy and congested with pedestrians and vehicular traffic which will require the driver to focus on safety during shuttle operations.

This position is 12 months per year, 40 hours/week position; benefits package included.

*All full-time drivers are also expected to work weekends when special events on campus require Cat Tran / shuttle service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications: Sufficient experience to operate assigned vehicles or equipment. Additional Requirements: Must possess necessary licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment. If no applicants apply, who meet the required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/Competencies and Training and Experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants.

Prior shuttle bus, school bus, passenger bus or large commercial motor vehicle driving experience is preferred.All new hires into positions subject to the State Human Resources Act (SHRA) will serve a 12 month probationary period as defined by the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources (OSHR).
