The Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the General Education program and the Honors Center. This position provides significant support to the Cross Cultural Experience program/cultural thread of the General Education Program.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the public face of the General Education and Honors programs; work with all constituents to inform and provide information about all Pioneer Core and expectations and opportunities

General Education Program:

Provide vision, strategic leadership and oversight to all aspects of the Carroll University general education program, inclusive of distribution and cross-cultural courses. Includes, but is not limited to:
- Work with General and Cross-Cultural Education Committee (GCCE) to oversee course adoptions and deletions, Pio Core and CCE assessment, program quality improvement
- Recruit, hire, train and manage instructors and travel associates for Cross Cultural Seminar (CCS) courses; establish with the area deans and department chairs the General Education and CCS staffing plans and program requirements
- Collaborate with Student Life on the CCS100 Orientation Mentor program and Welcome Week activities; help train Orientation
- Work with Advisors to ensure adequate advising for CCS and GE courses; present to advisors and at advising events; keep advising materials up to date
- Utilize data from program to reassess and strategize on the logistics of the CCE program
- Manage all CCE-related budgets including both Carroll-provided and donor-provided cost centers
- Provide annual reporting, board reports and assessment to Dean of College of Arts and Sciences and Senior Leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Honors Program

Provide vision, strategic leadership and oversight to all aspects of the Carroll University Honors' program. Includes, but is not limited to:
- Plan and sequence Honors course offerings to ensure successful honors student path through the program
- Oversee the Honors admissions process, attend admission events, develop a recruiting plan and review current policies and process
- Foster and pursue partnerships outside of the university.
- Work closely with student life, facilities, and residence life to maintain and oversee the honors LLC, A. Paul Jones Honors Hall
- Teach 4 credits per semester in Honors and/or General Education; including one first-year Honors (CCS100H) when possible
- Utilize data from program to reassess and strategize on the logistics of the CCE program
- Manage all Honors related budgets including both Carroll-provided and donor-provided cost centers
- Provide annual reporting, board reports and assessment to Dean of College of Arts and Sciences and Senior Leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Master's degree required, Ph.D. preferred.
Educational, professional or research background in cultural and/or international studies required
Established record of building partnerships.
Experience in budget management preferred
Demonstrated commitment to the value of cultural diversity

Technology Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite proficient
Experience with Terra Dotta preferred

Human Relation Skills:

Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
Excellent oral, written and cross cultural communication skills
Excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Must be willing to problem solve student issues and maintain inclusivity and flexibility when working through an honors student's course schedule.

Other Requirements:

Attend honors program events and programming that may occur outside of normal business hours.
