Training, Program Coordinator


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Training, Program Coordinator.

The Training Program Coordinator will be responsible for administration of Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD) training grant programs, including logistics, assisting with coordination of certain presenters and guest speakers, program management, technical reporting, federal grant compliance, and budgeting. Initially, this will include responsibility for the USAID Research and Innovation Fellowships as well as contributing to execution of the U.S. State Department Mandela Washington Fellowship Program, which brings 25 young leaders from countries across Africa to the University of Notre Dame for training each summer 2015-2018. In addition, the Training Program Coordinator will play a key role in assisting with the proposal development and submission process to grow the NDIGD Training Division and develop short-term training programs at the University and abroad across disciplines. The Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development is situated within the Keough School of Global Affairs, and this position requires working with many different people within the Keough School, across Notre Dame's campus, and beyond to coordinate efforts; therefore, strong interpersonal skills are critical to this role. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, English writing, and editing skills are required. Experience in international grant management, study abroad, or work; and familiarity with federal agencies such as USAID, or the U.S. Department of State is preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Training program and grant administration: For international grant training programs, the position oversees all program facilitation including the coordination and scheduling of program participants and logistics, student housing, safety protocols, technical reporting, budgeting, etc. The position serves as the primary point of contact between the federal and corporate funding organizations and the University of Notre Dame. Logistics for international grant programs may include the oversight of international travel, visas, pre-departure preparation assistance for student and faculty travelling internationally, among other areas.



  • Grant writing and proposal preparation: Assist in writing proposals for short-term training programs collaboratively with faculty, institutes, centers, and initiatives at Notre Dame to submit to federal agencies (e.g., U.S. Department of State, USAID, etc), companies, foundations, and private donors. Familiarity and understanding of information communications technology and online learning in order to incorporate into proposals and implement these types of designs into future programs. Assists in efforts for new business development through potential partners.



  • Communications/marketing: Assists in scheduling, organizing and coordinating NDIGD events related to training programs both on- and off-campus. Assists in coordinating training workshops; guest invitation lists, and marketing and communications efforts for the training division.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally and build capacity among colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds and in different settings. Exceptional English writing and editing skills required. Strong experience with Excel and advanced word processing required. Ability to travel internationally if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred one or two years of experience in global development-related programs. Fluency in a second language preferred. 1-2 years of experience in grant administration for federal agencies such as the U.S. Department State, USAID, or experience in finance/budgeting for international organizations preferred.
