About the Opportunity:
The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department is looking for a Senior Electronic Lab Technician to join their Department.

Responsibilities:
The Senior Electronic Lab Tech position in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department's machine shop will have job duties that include: (1) Working Safely in and around electrical equipment. (2) Assembling/installing equipment or parts requiring wiring, soldering, or connecting. (3) Performing tasks/tests; configures, operates and adjusts various test equipment; records and reports test data. (4) Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, specifications, and requirements. (5) Conducts circuit troubleshooting on various electronic devices. (6) Troubleshoots, modifies, and adjusts experimental circuitry prototypes, solving practical and technical problems. (7) Support and oversee work of students in courses and Capstone design in construction and testing of assemblies and assist them when needed by: providing safety oversight for students' electric and electronic based projects, advising and mentoring students during project work, managing and loaning out sensors and data acquisition systems, advising students on sensor selection, and troubleshooting electronics issues. (8) Follows specific instructions; assembles, constructs or repair of equipment or parts; may service or repair instruments or equipment. (9) Supporting the undergraduate laboratory classes by: preparing samples, solving technical problems, training and supervising teaching assistants, instructing students in designing and troubleshooting Arduino based sensors, developing new lab experiments, coordinating new equipment acquisition and installation and ordering supplies, and maintaining lab equipment. (10) Support research by: Solving electronics/equipment problems for research labs, advising researchers on sensor and data acquisition issues, maintaining laboratory equipment, and training graduate researchers in how to use shared equipment. (11) Working with department to coordinate across other Northeastern units to support wider technician needs (e.g., Acting as technical advisor/technician for evening classes/events, purchasing lab supplies, and aiding in Open House presentations and other outreach activities).

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Vocational training/technical certification in electrical controls or similar area is preferred. This senior Electronic Lab Technician must demonstrate: (1) Programming experience including: LabView, C, C++, Arduino, Raspberry PI, Python Experience in circuit design and sensor selection. (2) Proficiency with MS office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point). (3) Ability to instruct/mentor students and teaching assistants. (4) Some ability to fabricate samples for mechanical/electrical testing. (5) Knowledge of mechanical/electrical testing equipment. (6) Knowledge of power supplies. (7) Must have flexibility to work occasional Saturdays.
