Job Description

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Disability Resources Center (DRC) is currently seeking Senior Associates - ADAAA for three (3) open positions. These positions under the supervision of the Director of the DRC, will serve as a central point-of-contact professional for each of the three campuses for disability-related services for students, as well as serve as the primary resource to educate, train, and guide the college community in understanding disability access, rights, and responsibilities.

The Senior Associate will manage a comprehensive program of services for students with disabilities, including but not limited to:
  • Case Management: assist in the review of prospective student documentation to determine appropriate and reasonable accommodation(s);conduct intake meetings; and document student contact in DRC case management software.
  • Assist the Director with day-to-day operations of the DRC.
  • Work with students, faculty, and staff to address concerns and issues regarding accommodations.
  • Supervision of classified/hourly staff and student workers.
  • Compile and prepare reports, evaluations, and surveys of program activities/services for students as required by the state, federal government, or Office of Civil Rights.
  • Monitors and tracks retention rates of students with disabilities.
  • Work cooperatively with campus partners to provide an integrated college-wide system of supports.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Special Education, College Student Personnel, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related Human Service Field) from an accredited college or university AND 2-3 years related professional experience, knowledge of ADAA law and sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act AND 1-2 years managerial experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven track record of exceptional leadership in disability resources and services.
  • Ability to plan, assist in, and attend, student support and transition related events.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff, including student workers.
  • Ability to travel to local high schools, CSN campuses (3), and other community locations throughout the state to represent the DRC at key transition events.
  • Ability to professionally and routinely handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work occasional non-standard hours as needed.
  • Ability to make presentations to faculty, staff and external groups.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding accommodations and records.
  • Demonstrated awareness of sensitivity and commitment to diversity, inclusivity and able to effectively engage with diverse personalities and students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, training or experience in State and Federal laws related to Disability Rights: ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508, ADAAA and their application to higher education.
  • Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Engagement and assessment of successful student retention models.
  • Experience reviewing medical and psychometric documentation, analyzing diagnostic test results, and interviewing students as a basis for making appropriate recommendations for academic adjustments and accommodations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience providing consultation in accommodations for students, faculty, and staff with disabilities in higher education.
  • Experience in the Concepts of Universal Design for Instruction and the Social Model of Disability.
  • Experience managing and coordinating accommodations and services.
  • Experience training and supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Knowledge of models of disability and inclusive educational design and their application to higher education.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that support the overall mission of Disability Resources Center (DRC).
  • Proficiency entering and maintaining data systems for financial, quantitative and qualitative reports.
  • Proven track record and experience building partnerships with academic departments and faculty.
  • Serve as an integral part of the DRC regarding strategic planning, data collection and special projects.
  • Serve as a resource for student, faculty and staff regarding disability-related services.
