Job Summary
This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR), the specific Cluster is the Adult Intensive Care.

This cluster services the following units:

8D: Intermediate Care Unit4D: Neuro/ Neurosurgery ICU (NICU)5D: Surgical ICU (SICU)6D: Critical Care Medicine Unit (CCMU)7DN: Cardiac ICU (CICU)Cardiovascular ICU (CV-ICU)Trauma-Burn ICU (TBICU)

** BASE RATE; SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS FOR CSR STAFF NURSE TEMPS

Wage: $45.00/hr base rate

Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11p

Night Shift Differential is 3.00 per hour

Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

Responsibilities*
Responsibilities of the Adult Critical Care Cluster

To provide safe and effective nursing care as assigned to patients in each of the 6 Adult Intensive Care Units. This includes caring for patients in the Trauma Burn, Neuro-Surgical, Cardiovascular Surgery, Surgical, Medical, and Cardiac Intensive care unit, and Intermediate care units.This will include caring for patients with multiple types of illnesses and disease processes that require both physiologic monitoring and intensive nursing care. These patients often require ventilartory support, hemodynamic monitoring, intracranial pressure monitoring, and fluid and electrolyte corrections, parenteral or enteral nutrition and use of multiple cardiac agents and vasopressive drips. Staff must actively participate as a member of the healthcare team in each of these critical care units. Staff must work closely with patients and families in each area to serve as both the critical care nurse as well as the patient/family advocate.

Required Qualifications*
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse License.
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in critical care.
  • Must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Must be able to pass CSR EKG exam with an 80% or higher

  • BSN preferred
  • Candidate should demonstrate expertise in communication and problem solving skills within all levels of the health care team as evidenced by interviews, documentation, writing skills, and references.
  • Experience floating to multiple units helpful. Ability to work in a team atmosphere utilizing effective delegation skills. Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to be accountable and dependable as evidenced by completion of mandatories and unit based competencies.
  • CCRN certified.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office.

Work Schedule
**Commitment is 24 hours per 4 week scheduling block**Primarily Night shift ; 8 AND 12 HR BLOCKS AVAILABLE! Avaialble shifts are based on the staffing needs of the Adult Critical Care units.Location: University Hospital: Central Staffing Resources, Adult Critical Care (FLOAT)

Additional Information
TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required UM mandatories and compentencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all other applicable certifications).2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster speciality.

3). A Temporary Nurse should work 24 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four (4), eight (8), or twelve (12) hours shifts in advance.4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the Temporary RN.
