Job Summary
A postdoctoral position is available immediately for an individual with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree to carry out studies of pancreatic islet beta cell function, with a focus on oscillations.
Qualified candidates will have experience with live cell imaging techniques utilizing fluorescence microscopy and image analysis, fura-2 calcium imaging, and FRET. Hands on experience with molecular and cell biology protocols, and basic biochemical assays, especially those pertaining to studying metabolism or ion channel function will also be desirable. Experience with tissue culture, measurements of hormone secretion, transducing cells with adenoviruses, and using gene silencing approaches would be attributes as well. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have experience with patch clamp electrophysiology.
