Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage synchronous and asynchronous tools and equipment used in the delivery of distance learning classes, including classroom audiovisual technology, videoconferencing, and recording/streaming equipment.
  • Coordinate with the program director, instructors, administrators, students, and staff to identify and troubleshoot issues affecting distance learning classrooms and students.
  • Provide recommendations to best support distance learning students in addition to offering training and support for instructors new to a Distance Learning environment.
  • Assist in maintaining the Distance Learning website.
  • Provide Distance Learning program and course information to prospective students, referring to an appropriate advisor when necessary.
  • Assist with graduate student advising and provide guidance for the Master of Engineering program.
  • Participate in activities that support the College of Engineerings community outreach and recruiting efforts.
  • Perform other assigned duties under the direction of the Director.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledge in the area of distance or online learning methodologies, technologies, and learning management systems. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies. Demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Organizational skills and initiative; ability to work well in a team environment. Problem-solving attitude to approaching issues while exercising independent judgment and ethical decision-making with a minimum amount of supervision. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Strong attention to detail and capacity to work in a fast paced, customer service oriented, professional environment. Professional attitude and appearance; openness to continued learning and upgrading of skills.
  • Experience with adult learners in a university environment. Ability to think "outside the box" and to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with audio visual technology. Experience with Mediasite video streaming platform.
