About the Opportunity:
The Department of Theatre is a community dedicated to creativity, collaboration, and excellence. In this way, we play an integral role in the development of human literacies, which sits at the heart of Northeastern's commitment to Humanics. In studying and creating theatre, students develop vital skills in creative problem solving, collaboration, and empathy.

This new postdoctoral position is designed to explore the ways transdisciplinary critical creative practice can inform and be informed by theatre and performance pedagogies. This position will encompass both teaching and critical creative practice responsibilities. The workload would be teaching three courses per semester, with a possibility of summer classes for extra compensation. The position would also include appropriate course release for the ideation and implementation of substantial critical creative practice projects in conjunction with an interdisciplinary research center (ex. Center for the Arts, Center for Design, Center for Experiential Artificial Intelligence, etc.)

Responsibilities:
Includes teaching courses appropriate to the candidate's skills and interests, such as Introduction to Theatre, Theatre & Society, Creative Storytelling for Social Engagement, etc. Includes at least one public performance, presentation, or exhibition of critical creative practice conducted while in residence at Northeastern University. May include supervision of undergraduate research projects as appropriate. Includes participation in the life of the theater departmentattending monthly faculty meetings, department events, etc.

Qualifications:
Must have a PhD in Theatre, Performance Studies, or a related field completed within the past five years and prior to the start of the appointment. Must have teaching experience at the college level and must provide evidence of an established research and/or critical creative practice profile and/or potential for substantial contributions to the field of theatre and performance studies. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for two additional years. The starting date is September 1, 2020.
