Job Summary

Why work on the Michigan Medicine Polysomnography Team?


As a Polysomnography Technician with Michigan Medicine, you will score sleep records and document test results. You'll learn to calibrate and adjust equipment including troubleshooting minor problems. Incoming patients will receive instruction and support from you as they prepare for tests. Additionally, there will be opportunities to train new staff members and work with polysomnographic student externs. In specialized cases, you may also develop, implement, evaluate and modify difficult recording procedures for patients or even participate in the conducting of sleep disorder research.

Responsibilities*

What skills will you use?

  • You will precisely apply electrodes and perform biocalibrations.
  • You will work with a variety of patients including adult and pediatric populations.
  • You'll also set up top-tier equipment and troubleshoot common issues

Required Qualifications*
  • High School graduation.
  • Associates Degree preferred or satisfactory completion of course work in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable.
  • Eligibility or Registry by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or Licensed Respiratory Therapist with sleep specialty credential within six months of hire.

Work Schedule
Days or Nights with the flexibility to accommodate evenings, rotating weekends and holidays including on call responsibilities.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
