Position Information:
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, the Member Engagement Manager will develop and execute the UC Riverside Alumni Association's membership program and participate in the creation of alumni marketing communications designed to increase awareness of and engagement in the UC Riverside Alumni Association and the University of California. He/she must have the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively while achieving defined goals. Responsibilities include the development of new membership campaigns and overseeing membership services. The incumbent will administer membership acquisition and renewal campaigns; create and disseminate key membership messages for general alumni communications and will manage the association's membership benefits program through the development of new benefits and the evaluation/viability of current benefits. He/she will collaborate with campus partners to manage the multi-day Grad Fair event and fulfill data requests for the association's affinity/business partner relationships. Other responsibilities include participating on committees and task forces; assisting with university-wide events such as Convocation, Chancellor's Dinner, Homecoming, Highlander Day of Service, Commencement, and some regional events; budget and financial administration; and providing advice and counsel in areas relating to member engagement and affinity partners.

Education:
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Bachelor's degree in business administration, journalism, communications, public relations, English, marketing or related field.
Preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Required

2 years of experience in alumni relations, fee-based membership programs, or in an educational non-profit environment.

Minimum Requirements:

Basic knowledge of the institution, its mission, vision, goals, achievements, policies, and infrastructure.
Organizational skills including skill to meet prescribed deadlines; event planning skills.
For staff in Government/Community Relations: basic knowledge of public policy and the legislative process.
Analytical and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of basic concepts and principles of building and maintaining effective relations with a variety of alumni and other key constituencies.
Applicable computer skills.
Written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including tact and political acumen to effectively represent the institution.
Ability to create a business plan and knowledge of financial processes to analyze the cost-effectiveness of programs.
Ability to keep accurate records of expenditures and income.
Proficiency in MS suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with donor database applications and online databases.
Demonstrated experience with learning and adapting to new computer systems and office procedures.
Knowledge of marketing best practices and direct marketing media including direct mail, Web, and email.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Raiser's Edge including membership module, queries, and reports.

Understanding of alumni association fee-based membership programs, models and national trends.

Knowledge of UCR University Advancement and alumni organizational structure and policies and procedures.
