Responsibilities*
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs Diagnostic Procedures
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring that no contraindication to a safe and/or diagnostic procedure exists and that this information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner and HIPAA disclosure.
  • Positions patient using appropriate hearing protection and immobilizing techniques pertinent to an age specific population.
  • Applies principles of MR safety for patient, self and others to provide an MR compatible environment in which to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Position patients to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, while respecting patient's ability, comfort and safety.
  • Selects appropriate imaging coil and operate MR equipment according to the established protocols.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media under the direction of a Radiologist and Department protocol.
  • Provides instruction for patients, students and/or health care professionals.
  • Understands and applies Guest Relation skills. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Insures that the scan room and the technologist room is stocked appropriately with the necessary item to conduct and safe MRI exam. (IV supplies, Linens)

Secondary Duties and Responsivities (When PCTAs are not available)
  • Screen and Change MRI patients (Outpatients, Inpatients, and ER)
  • Prep patients
  • Point of Care (GFR, Pregnancy)
  • Oral Contrast
  • Pre-Screening x-rays
  • IV access
  • Transport and assist patients
  • Work with the Lead Technologist to maximize efficient patient throughput
  • Stocking
  • Linen in dressing rooms
  • Blanket warmers
  • IV cart
  • Volumen
  • Perform patient scheduling and reception duties, and assist clerical staff as needed
  • Assist in codes and contrast reactions (Inject Epi pen, as directed)
  • Assist General Anesthesia
  • Review ticket to Ride
  • Assist nursing staff with sedated patients

Required Qualifications*
What are the qualifications?
  • Required within 6 months of hire date or before
  • Graduation from a school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MR) or
  • Registration as a Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment
