The Department of Liberal Studies at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants with expertise in Educational Technology for a tenure-track, academic year faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2018. The successful candidate will join a dynamic cross-disciplinary team that is re-envisioning the Liberal Studies major to create a comprehensive, cohesive, and cutting edge program to prepare outstanding teachers for grades PK-8.

Faculty responsibilities will include the following: (a) participating on a team to redesign, develop, and teach Educational Technology courses in the Liberal Studies program, (b) teaching courses in graduate programs within the Kremen School of Education and Human Development (instructional formats include face-to-face, hybrid, and online); (c) engaging in research, publications, conference presentations, and grant writing; and (d) participating in service benefiting the Department, School, University, community, and profession.

The mission of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development is the recruitment and development of ethically informed leaders for classroom teaching, education administration, counseling, and higher education. This award-winning, NCATE-accredited unit fosters the following candidate dispositions: collaboration, critical thinking, valuing diversity, ethical judgments, reflection, and life-long learning. Our mission is realized through a framework of teaching, scholarship, and service that addresses regional, state, national, and international perspectives. Kremen programs are highly engaged in partnerships with schools in our diverse region. Grants such as the Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative (MSTI) support numerous mathematics and science PK-12 teacher preparation efforts. The Strategic Teacher Education Partnership (STEP) supports innovative efforts to redesign the Liberal Studies program, an undergraduate major designed to lay a solid foundation for PK-8 teacher preparation.

Required Education: The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate with an emphasis in Educational Technology or a related field. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed by January 14, 2019.

Required Experience:

Successful teaching experience with PK-8 learners in school settings
Experience with and a commitment to the design of Educational Technology curriculum that is integrated, project-based, and culturally responsive/relevant to the population of students served
The ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, students, and community members from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

A record of successful teaching experience in higher education
At least three years of successful teaching experience with PK-8 learners in school settings.
A record of research and scholarly activity in an Educational Technology related area
Evidence of a commitment to addressing issues of equity and social justice related to race, class, gender, disability, and/or language with future educators
Evidence of experience with using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the design of technology-enhanced learning experiences
