Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: August 15, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Development leads all aspects of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship at Western Illinois University-Quad Cities. The primary function of the position is to raise and increase giving to Western Illinois University-Quad Cities through receipt of annual fund gifts, outright gifts, stock gifts, planned giving, and commemorative gifts from individuals, agencies, organizations, and foundations.

Essential functions include 1) Focus on comprehensive fundraising for Western Illinois University-Quad Cities; 2) Engage in "friend-raising" and community/civic activities in support of comprehensive fundraising; 3) Formalize a plan to enhance and sustain donor giving for the next comprehensive campaign; 4) Support activities of the Quad Cities and Planning Advisory Board; 5) Complete priorities developed in an annual report; and 6) Engage in professional development activities
Special requirements for the position entail evening and weekend hours and travel when needed to engage in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship and for required attendance at Western Illinois University Foundation meetings. This position also requires strong presentation, interpersonal, analytical and writing skills, including grant-writing experience, to successfully achieve its primary job functions.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:The minimum qualifications for this position are an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; outstanding oral, written presentation, listening, and presentation skills; successful experiences in prospect identification; donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and grant writing/foundation requests.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The preferred qualifications are a Masters degree or higher with successful fundraising experiences in higher education; established local, regional, and statewide networks and demonstrated successes in fundraising and current CFRE certification.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be"in hand" at the time of application.

THE DEPARTMENT: The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning & Initiatives who reports to the President. The position also coordinates with the Vice President for Advancement and Public Service.http://wiu.edu/qc/

Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,267): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan campus in Moline, IL
