Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Development, the Director for Regional Advancement is responsible for the creation, execution, and management of a regional fundraising model for the central United States. He/she will assess capacity throughout this region, and will build a program to achieve fundraising success primarily in areas currently not under management. These areas may include but are not limited toTexas, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, and western Pennsylvania.

The Director is also personally responsible for raising major and low-level principal gifts ($100K-$1M). With a focus on developing not only a regional strategy, but also the implementation of a productive fundraising plan, he/she will also manage a portfolio of 120+ prospects, including alumni, friends, parents, and university leaders; identify new prospects; make discovery and qualification calls; establish cultivation and solicitation strategies; and solicit and steward gifts. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to metrics including fundraising and visit goals. The Director will build and enhance prospect relationships with Northeastern, strategically involving prospects in special programs and events and connecting them to other university leaders and supporters. He/she will create and lead new initiatives that provide meaningful and substantive engagement opportunities for these individuals.

The Director must be entrepreneurial and creative in launching this new and critical endeavor. He/she will have demonstrated success as a seasoned fundraising professional. The Director must be collaborative in approach, working with development offices across the university as well as with colleagues in central Advancement including the Office of Alumni Relations, to successfully match donor interests and leverage their full philanthropic capacity.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
-Seeking a highly entrepreneurial, energetic individual who has seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive Development experience, preferably in higher education.
-Ability to carry out the vision, goals, and fundraising aspirations of the university.
-Accomplished at cultivating and closing principal gifts for scholarships, professorships, and research-related initiatives.
-Demonstrated ability to work closely with high-level decision makers, trustees, and other top level volunteers.
-Strong interpersonal skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, trustees) and internal (deans, faculty, staff) constituents.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Highly collaborative in approach.
-Ability to travel (including overnight and weekends)
