The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Coordinator, Student Activities, De Anza College.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Dean, Student Development and EOPS, direct the College Life program including the development of social, cultural, recreational, and governance programs that expand involvement within the campus community and promote exposure to various cultures, experiences, ideas, issues, and life styles; and to serve as the advisor for the De Anza Associated Student Body (DASB) and work closely with faculty advisors and clubs. The position includes responsibility for leadership development training, activity programming; student organization coordination; and new student leadership orientation sessions.

NATURE and SCOPE:
This position plays a leadership role in developing a comprehensive activities program and supervising the Associated Students of De Anza College. The Coordinator, Student Activities coordinates and implements student leadership and governance development programs, assist with developing and monitoring departmental and student government budgets. The Coordinator, Student Activities will collaborate with Shared Governance bodies, Student Services and Academic administrators, counselors, and faculty on student leadership development opportunities. The incumbent will also assist the Dean of Student Development and EOPS/CARE with student discipline, code of conduct issues, grievance and judicial affairs matters.

The Coordinator is also responsible to implement an extensive leadership program for the Associated Students to prepare and support them in their shared governance roles at the college. These activities will ensure that students possess the skills to manage their duties and responsibilities as student government officers. Leadership training topics will include civic education, equity, inclusion, finance management, project management, ethics, organizational development and governmental affairs.

The Coordinator will oversee the office operations and provide technical and functional direction to the Student Activities Specialist, Office Coordinator, and Flea Market Coordinator.

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop and direct the campus Student Activities program.
  2. Develop and conduct studies and analyses to identify needs for new programs and services and evaluate the effectiveness of current programs. Propose and implement new programs and program changes.
  3. Develop and monitor department budgets; manage student group budgets; ensure expenditures fall within State Education Code requirements; authorize expenditures.
  4. Manage the process, timeline, and adjudication of discipline reports and student grievances; meet with students; gather data, establish timeline of events, and determine findings; complete reports and forms; attend and present assigned cases at disciplinary and grievance hearings.
  5. Advise, train and supervise a diverse group of student leaders; authorize and supervise student travel.
  6. Authorize contracts with performers, travel groups and other vendors.
  7. Advise and supervise the development, review and enforcement of Associated Students documents, including the constitution, election code and policies and procedures.
  8. Develop, coordinate and facilitate personal and leadership development workshops and retreats for student leaders and members of recognized student organizations.
  9. Develop, review and update student organization advisor and student handbooks.
  10. Advise and guide faculty and staff advisors of recognized student organizations.
  11. Refer students to community organizations and social service agencies for assistance as appropriate.
  12. Prepare statistical records and reports related to assigned student services areas; gather and analyze program data; make recommendations and implement approved changes.
  13. Attend meetings, workshops and conferences; represent the campus and promote college enrollment.
  14. Select, train and supervise student staff and student workers.
  15. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
  2. Master's degree OR the equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in a supervisory capacity of students and their related activities, preferably at a college or university level.
  2. Two (2) years student leadership development experience working in an educational setting.
  3. Previous operations management and budgetary experience.
  4. Previous experience with civic engagement education.

HIRING RANGE: $68,479.00 - $112,466.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
