Position Information
The Communications and Special Projects Coordinator works closely with the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, the Associate Provost, and the Director of Evaluation and Assessment on a variety of issues and projects related to the campus academic enterprise. This position demands a broad team-oriented skill set including the ability to engage effectively with administrators, faculty and staff across the campus, ability to undertake independent research to produce data-driven recommendations, outstanding oral and written communication skills, commitment to principles of diversity and inclusion, and aptitude for taking ownership of and successfully managing and implementing projects with only general guidance from supervisors. In consultation with the Associate Provost, the position has the responsibility for independently managing or assisting in managing a variety of projects undertaken by the Provost's office. Representative projects include student success initiatives, faculty hiring initiatives, enrollment management initiatives, IT platform implementation, and capital and strategic planning activities. In consultation with the Director of Evaluation and Assessment, the position assists with campus-wide assessment and accreditation activities including data analysis, report writing, and record-keeping. The position also serves as the communications lead for the Provost/EVC office. This includes authoring most written communications (internal and external) that are produced by the office with a high degree of autonomy, creating presentations, and independently managing the Provost/EVC's social media accounts and website. Please Note: The budgeted hiring range for this position is up to $76,680.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing.
Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.

Ability to work and lead projects with limited supervision.
Demonstrated research skills.
Demonstrated software skills, including the ability to build and maintain web content, produce polished presentation materials, utilize spreadsheets, and manage shared documents.


Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.

Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

Familiarity with university policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems.
