Bilingual Outreach Program Specialist 2 - BRIDGES

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Provides outreach and navigation support to pathway development for underrepresented students in the Transitional Studies Division. Builds connections with Latinx and/or other immigrant and refugee communities, conducts outreach to local high schools in Snohomish County to promote courses and services. Promotes retention and successful completion for current students, conducts data tracking of participants and support the BRIDGES director in day-to-day operation of the center. Includes support at satellite locations such as East County Campus, St. Mary Magdalen project, and Marysville sites.

  • Increase enrollment of GED Spanish, IBEST, and other Transitional Studies program students; actively assist with campus-wide outreach efforts to Latinx community and other immigrant/refugee communities.
  • Conduct school and community presentations and information sessions promoting Everett Community College programs and activities
  • In coordination with the Inclusion and Equity Center, assist in recruiting participants for the quarterly Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI)
  • Assist with orientations for CASAS online skills assessment for IBEST, BRIDGES Center, and Transitional Studies Division
  • Assist prospective students with presentations and applying for admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures of the college, and provide information and referral to EvCC Student Services as appropriate
  • Ensure students are linked to college advising and student support services and follow up on referrals
  • Help students connect with the BRIDGES Employment Navigator or EvCC Student Job Center to learn skills in networking, job readiness, interviewing skills and employment portfolios
  • Support student transitions to college credit such as IBEST or Associate Degree - bearing courses
  • Case Manage IBEST- CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) cohort
  • Track prospective students from initial contact to enrollment for GED Spanish, IBEST, and BRIDGES workshops
  • Provide student success reports to BRIDGES director as needed
  • Increase recruitment to classes and programs using data as evidence
  • Travel to outreach sites to assist in recruitment, orientations and testing
  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree or minimum 2 years of work experience in college outreach, program and project coordination, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    Ability to communicate in Spanish and English, verbally and in writing
    Knowledge and experience working in a K-12 school setting
    Strong customer service skills
    Experience working with diverse cultures
    Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, Google drive, and Power point
    Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle for travel between main campus and outreach sites

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience with outreach methods and activities for historically underrepresented students
    Experience in a community college setting
    Experience giving the CASAS assessment
    Experience in community organizing/event planning
