Job Summary

The University of Michigan Office of Development seeks a dynamic, experienced leader and fundraiser for the position of Assistant Vice President, Leadership and Major Gift Programs.

As a key leader of one of the nation's most successful public university development teams, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) will help shape the future of philanthropy at the University of Michigan for years to come. If you are a visionary, positive-thinking, results-oriented leader who is devoted to supporting the mission of a great university, this may be a great fit.

If selected, you will report directly to the Vice President for Development, serve on the VP's leadership team, and work closely with senior leaders across the university to ensure a coordinated, consistent development effort. You will directly lead, integrate, and enhance collaborations among three teams of professional development officers: National Major Gifts; Parents & Families and Student Life; and Planned Giving. Responsibilities include managing your own portfolio of leadership volunteers and gift prospects, and supervising six direct reports who oversee about 28 staff. Frequent travel is required.

Beyond your immediate team, you'll work closely with fundraising teams for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Foundation Relations; Business Engagement Center; and International Giving; as well as collaborate with professional fundraisers in more than 30 schools, colleges and units. You'll build connections across the university and help lead long-range strategy for the future of fundraising in a rapidly evolving field, setting the stage for the next record-breaking campaign.
