Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Family Philanthropy Program, the Assistant Director, Family Philanthropy Program (AD) will work in collaboration with the Director and the Family Philanthropy Program fundraising staff to build and maintain a comprehensive fundraising program for parents. The AD plays an integral team role in enhancing the parent community to develop effective financial support for the university from parents through volunteer management, parent engagement programming, and marketing and communications.

The AD oversees the Parent Leadership Council (PLC) and its branches, and serves as the primary liaison between the parent community and the university. The AD works closely with gift officers to recruit new PLC members, coordinates two council meetings per year, and effectively manages the Chairs of the PLC to establish oversight and efficiency. The AD will establish short- and long-term plans for the PLC and build regional recognition of the PLC beyond the current branches.

The AD is responsible for parent engagement and solicitation through direct mail, telemarketing, email communications, newsletters, web content, multi-media outreach, events, and volunteer structures. The AD takes the pulse of the parent community and oversees its engagement by other areas of the university such as the Office of Alumni Relations, colleges and units, and Advancement Events. The AD will continue to identify and develop close relationships with new areas of campus and collaborations that have a direct impact on the parent population.

The Associate Director works independently to prepare reports and analyze data to be used by the Director in establishing goals for parent giving and reporting to the Vice President of Development. The AD must be able to represent the university and program in a professional, enthusiastic manger with a customer service and team focus. Public speaking ability is a key success factor for this position. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Four to six (4-6) years of development experience required, preferably in higher education or a non-profit organization. Strong process management, organization, short-term and long-range planning, communication, analytic, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to supervise and set priorities are required. Must be able to demonstrate successful relationship building with institutional leaders. Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent attention to detail. Must possess a high degree of independent initiative and innovation, negotiation, interpersonal and networking skills, and ability to build trust with keen communication skills.

A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse constituencies required. The Associate Director must be able to represent the university and program in a professional, enthusiastic manger with a customer service and team focus. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate.
