Assistant Football Coach

Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Position Status: Administrative Exempt Positions

Basic Function:
Assist head coach in providing leadership and direction for all aspects of the varsity football program to compete in accordance with the NCAA Division III philosophy. Teach physical education courses and manage a departmental administrative responsibility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the head football coach in the leadership and direction of the program; organize practice sessions, participate in the preparation of student-athletes for competition and provide positive guidance to students off the field.

Recruit prospective student-athletes committed to academic and athletic excellence.

Establish and maintain a positive public relations image for the program, the department and WPI.

Serve as a role model for players both on and off the field.

Develop good rapport and/or working relationship with students, department members, faculty and alumni.

Adhere to WPI departmental, NCAA and university policies.

Develop a good rapport and working relationship with students, coaching staff, department members, faculty and alumni.

Teach PE courses as assigned.

Be responsible for a departmental administrative responsibility as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Bachelors Degree required; masters degree preferred.

1-3 years exceptional collegiate coaching and playing experience at the collegiate level.

Demonstrated ability in administration, leadership, recruitment.

CPR certificate, first aid certificate and valid drivers license required.
