Admission Counselor for Graduate Admission

Classification: Administrative Staff - Full-time
Reports to: Director of Graduate Admission
Description: This position is an integral part of Carroll University's enrollment staff. The Admission Counselor counsels high school students in navigating the college selection process with a goal of attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling a competitive entering class of traditional undergraduate students. The individual must be committed to student/parent service and to the colleges overall mission.
Responsibilities:
Manage recruitment initiatives to represent Carroll at external recruitment events: internally for the undergraduate community and within professional communities (high school counselors/teachers) to educate individuals about Carroll University.
Meets targeted enrollment goals through the establishment of effective recruitment strategies and relationship management.
Prospect for qualified students by visiting high schools within your territory and by representing Carroll at selective college fairs.
Represent Carroll at high school (community) award and educational functions.
Educate high school counselors and teachers about Carroll University.
Partner with assigned graduate programs to coordinate registration and matriculation process.
Proactively and professionally, contact prospective students with incomplete applications. Ensure that admitted students are aware of next steps involved in matriculation and enrollment.
Review application credentials for assigned students and provide details to admission committee for determination.
Review application credentials for students from your territory and make admission decisions and award merit based scholarships.
Counsel accepted applicants and their parents on the financial aid process, the college's financial aid philosophy, and the specifics of individual financial aid awards.
Perform quality and timely follow-up with prospective students, parents, and high school personnel.
Confirm and enroll students from your assigned territory.
Participate in Open House and other Admission Office events.
Conduct on-campus interviews with prospective students and parents.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree required
1-2 years of experience in sales/recruiting preferred
Previous experience in private higher education admission preferred
Technology Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to use University software to create & maintain student admissions records
Human Relations Skills:
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Client focused sense of urgency and responsiveness.
Ability to listen effectively, work independently and as part of a team.
Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Sensitivity to the needs of students
Additional Qualifications:
Must have valid driver's license and be insurable under the University's plan
