Adjunct Instructor - Nurse Practitioner: Psych Mental Health Program

There is an opening in the College of Health Professions for an adjunct faculty member to develop and teach in the Psych Mental Health Program.

Advanced practice nurses are necessary stewards for an evolving healthcare system. The graduate curriculum at Wilmington University prepares advanced practice nurses to take their place in the constantly changing health care milieu. The nurse practitioner program prepares students to function autonomously when caring for individuals, families, and communities in health and illness. Students bring individual experiences to the program that will contribute to the role of an advanced practice nurse. The program fosters advanced critical thinking skills, and encourages evidence-based practice, adaptability, flexibility, ethical integrity, and visionary leadership.

Responsibilities (listed below, but not limited to the following):
The candidate would teach in the PMHNP program and develop PMHNP program curriculum under the guidance of the Program's Chairperson. In addition, this person will be involved in the marketing of the program as well as recruiting other qualified adjunct faculty to teach within the program

Requirements:
Applicants are required to have a valid nursing license and a minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution, and PMHNP Board Certification. In addition, applicants are expected to have strong communications skills, relevant work experiences in the discipline in which they expect to teach, and:
Understand the mission and values of Wilmington University.
Possess good computer skills and be able to use MS Office software.
Complete Wilmington University's Blackboard (Learning Management System) training (if hired)
Must be able to abide by tight deadlines required of a 7 week Block format curriculum.
Must have knowledge of various instructional strategies designed to meet the course objectives and enhance student learning.
Must be able to develop a course specific outline designed to follow a generic syllabus provided by the University.
Must be able to provide relevant work experience to the instructional content of the course.
Qualified applicants may be asked to present a writing sample
Qualified Applicants may be asked to present a 10-minute teaching sample for the Program's Director and Chair as part of the interview process.
