Salary range for Registered Nurses- $65,840.24 - $104,150.85
  • Evening Shift Differential- $2.45 per hour

Responsibilities*
Provides nursing care to patients receiving sedation in the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, Oral Surgery West (OS West) and Dental School clinic. Coordinates nursing care; pre-procedure, intra-procedure and during recovery phase. Administers sedation/analgesia under the direction of a physician. Assesses and documents hemodynamic status during sedation and post procedure. Initiates peripheral intravenous lines. Assists physicians and advanced practice professionals in clinic. Be responsible for the management of medication inventory, in-basket, telephone triage and orientation of peers and colleagues.Provide telephone triage, advice and provide patient education for head and neck oncology conditions including pre and post op care, direct clinical care, and nursing documentation using the Epic and MiDent systems.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
  • Two years of experience within the past five years, as an ICU, ED, Flight Nurse or as a Sedation Analgesia Professional.
  • ACLS certification
  • Completion of/or demonstrated ability to complete the IV sedation course

Desired Qualifications*
  • BSN
  • Experience with the oral surgery patient population
  • Recent (within last four years) ambulatory care experience
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills in daily practice: assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.
  • Excellent attendance as evidenced by previous work performance evaluations and/or attendance record.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a collaborative working environment
  • Proficiency using and documenting in an electronic medical record.

Work Schedule

Hours: 8 hour shifts, 40 hours/week

Shift: Monday - Friday, variable hours based on clinic needs

Location: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, University Hospital, OS West, and Dental School Clinic

****All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
