Job Description

Position Summary- grant funded

The GEAR UP Specialist for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness For Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) works up to 19.5 hours per week on the North Las Vegas Campus. Working under the direction of the CSN GEAR UP Ambassador, the specialist will support the Ambassador in providing first-year programming, college success skills workshops and academic support to a cohort of GEAR UP college freshman. This grant-funded position exists to enhance the college experience for at-risk, first-generation college, and disadvantaged students. The incumbent will assist in the planning and execution of on-campus GEAR UP activities and on-going mentorship opportunities.


Required Qualifications

  • Current CSN student
  • Experience working with first-generation college and at-risk youth
  • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Detail-orientated
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
