OPS Course Assistant, Environmental Engineering
Job Summary
The OPS Course Assistant will assist faculty in their course by helping grade homework, answer questions, and be available for classes.
Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Assists course instructor with class preparation and course materials (e.g., setting up AV equipment or lab specimens, maintaining course website, photocopying)
- Holds office hours outside of class
- Grades students' papers, homework and exams
- Assists in laboratory classes
- Conducts review sessions
- Ensures that no food or beverages are consumed in the labs
- Prepares, sets up, breaks down, and cleans up for all of the lab activities, open labs
- Organizes and maintains a clean and safe laboratory and storeroom environments (floors, counter tops, sinks, shelving, equipment, washes and stores linens, and other materials)
Other Duties:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the course subject matter.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a same or closely related field as the course subject.
- Experience with grading assignments and exams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to meet deadlines for work assignments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and FERPA regulations with any information regarding students.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to report to work reliably and timely.
