Position Information
The Environmental Planner has specialized knowledge and professional experience in environmental planning and legal compliance, and serves as a specialist in compliance of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and associated environmental laws and regulation. Ensures the timely preparation of environmental studies and CEQA documents, develops, implements, and maintains appropriate Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting for campus capital improvement projects, as well as evaluating and preparing environmental impact classification forms for campus projects, including major and minor capital projects, maintenance and renovations, off-campus properties and selected research projects. Responsible for the campus environmental record, and ensures that related public records are maintained and accessible. Contracts for and supervises the work of numerous environmental planning consultants in the preparation of environmental baseline studies, ad hoc studies, and CEQA documentation. Supports the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Campus Planning and has a lead role in representing the office to the UC Office of the President, Office of General Counsel, the general public, as well as representing the campus's interests with local, state, and federal agencies. Has specialized knowledge and experience with processes for obtaining and complying with environmental permitting requirements of State and Federal Agencies. Strong organizational skills.
Thorough working knowledge/skill in city planning, architecture, or other planning-related fields.

Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of the organization, including its architectural history, short and long range development plans, infrastructure and current, on-going and proposed design and construction plans.

Knowledge of higher education auxiliaries and enterprises.

Knowledge of integrated planning, process improvements, and strategic use of resources in a public sector or educational environment.
