Position Information
Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Planning, Budget and Administration, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Institutional Research serves as an integral part of the University's strategic planning leadership. Leads the Institutional Research team to synthesize available data, identify hidden relationships and correlations, and create a foundation for predictive analytics. Provides leadership and stewardship in the development and implementation of campus databases, data definitions, and other systems that serve as the source of official statistical data. Effectively manages and analyzes institutional data to enable campus leadership to make data-driven decisions on how to align resources with campus strategic priorities. Final candidates will be required to give a presentation on a relevant Institutional Research issue The anticipated start date for this position is June 2019.


Minimum Requirements
Understanding of data as demonstrated within a major statistical package (e.g. STATA, SAS, or SPSS).
Expertise with Windows-based software packages, including spreadsheet (Excel), word processing (Word), and presentation (PowerPoint) applications.
Ability to function effectively as a member of a team and demonstrated skills in staff management and development.
Position requires excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels.
Understanding of advanced statistical methods, such as multiple regression, logistic regression, ANOVA, time-series analysis, causal program evaluation methods, and survey analysis.
Demonstrates ability to function effectively as a member of a team. Demonstrates leadership in coordinating, facilitating, and conducting meetings for the purpose of resolving differences and working toward institutional goals.
Able to provide thorough quantitative analysis and understand data warehousing.
Demonstrates excellent ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex and technical information in a clear and concise manner.


Preferred Qualifications
Has thorough knowledge of organization and system protocols and procedures.

Demonstrated success completing numerous rankings and other critical external surveys (e.g. IPEDS, US News, and NCAA Graduation Success Rate).

Has thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, business and systems operations.

Knowledge of national, institutional, and local standards and practices surrounding the definitions of various IR constructs, such as graduation rates, instructional workload, time-to-degree, cohort definitions, race/ethnicity, FTE, and many others. Ability to adapt and respond to new data reporting requirements based on emerging needs.
