The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor Level in Medical Robotics, Biomedical Devices, and/or Global Health.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) (www.wpi.edu/+BME) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor Level in Medical Robotics, Biomedical Devices, and/or Global Health.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in BME, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field. This position will involve collaboration with BME, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science faculty working in the area of medical robotics and/or biomedical devices. We are looking for individuals who value innovation, creativity, diversity, inclusion, and collaboration. Applicants must show potential for an innovative and sustainable research and teaching career. We expect faculty to be involved in a balance of research, teaching, and service.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is leading diverse, cutting-edge research with product and thought innovation to develop new advances in therapies, devices, and processes to help people live longer, healthier lives. We deliver a vibrant ABET-accredited undergraduate BME program with approximately 400 undergraduate and 70 graduate students pursuing BS, MS, MEng, and Ph.D. degrees. The BME Department is housed in the WPI Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park, a state-of-the art, mixed-use research facility. Available facilities include PracticePoint, a scalable research facility featuring point-of-practice clinical spaces with prototype home-health and hospital settings co-located with engineering and manufacturing capabilities and WPI's Bioengineering Institute, which identifies emerging technologies and helps launch them through development and commercialization. WPI's campus is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, a thriving 21st century college city recognized as a growing hub of scientific and technological innovation about one hour west of Boston. WPI also has a joint Ph.D. program with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, located 2 miles from WPI.
