The M.S. in Energy Systems Management Program (ENGY) at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in August 2018, with an option of beginning January 2019.

ENGY is a new, dynamic, interdisciplinary program that provides students with the analytical tools and knowledge to be leaders in the transition from a fossil-fuels based energy system to a system based on renewable energy and energy conservation. There are currently two full time faculty members in the program. Classes are held at the downtown USF campus at 101 Howard Street.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must be able to teach two or more of the programs required courses, such as Energy Industry Strategy and Policy, Energy Finance, Electricity Systems, or Renewable Energy Technologies. In addition, one course per year will be devoted to supporting the ENGY internship program and teaching the internship course. The normal teaching load consists of two 4-unit courses per semester, plus one additional 4-unit course over two years (2-2-2-3 over two years). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the program and the College, including through program admissions, assessment, and advising, as well as maintain an active research program that engages students when possible. In the future, the faculty member will be expected to support program leadership, including serving as ENGY Program Director for at least one term (three years). Program Directors receive release time for their administrative duties.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Requirements include a completed PhD in a relevant field. A strong record of teaching at the university level, evidence of scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required. In addition, successful applicants should demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary exploration and applied research, and a collaborative orientation.

We are especially interested in interdisciplinary candidates grounded in engineering or physics but whose research and teaching transcend disciplinary boundaries and engage with policy, law, economics, and/or management. We are also particularly interested in candidates with a track record in community-engaged research and practice. The successful candidate will develop research and partnerships in the Bay Area that will engage students.
