Reports to: Media Services Manager

Description: The A/V & Media Specialist is responsible for supporting the use of a variety of audio/video and multimedia services across the campus. The essential functions of the A/V & Media Specialist include meeting customer needs for presentation, communication, and media production equipment, coordinating student employees that assist in meeting this need and maintaining the equipment used in these endeavors. The A/V & Media Specialist works closely with the Reservations and Event Services staff with planning and executing functions that utilize A/V and presentation equipment. This position also provides support to faculty, staff and students in the use of media production hardware and software. This position requires a flexible work schedule that may include weekly schedule changes, working evenings and weekends, and in an on-call capacity.

Responsibilities:
Provide high quality audio-visual technical services for campus events including internal and external clients
Provide technical support for lab/classroom hardware, software, and A/V equipment
Act as a resource person to the Media Services Manager concerning all audio-visual services for presentations, conferences, meetings, lectures, entertainment, and concerts
Support the use of media production and distribution equipment and software including video cameras, audio recording equipment, video and audio editing software
Perform basic repairs on audio/visual and media production equipment
Create and maintain thorough documentation for the use all supported equipment
Provide training to faculty/staff/students when necessary on the proper use of supported equipment
Assist with planning for the acquisition of new and replacement equipment
Provide evening and weekend support as necessary
Support Media Center functions including training/supervising student employees, managing A/V equipment checkout and answering questions as necessary
Complete other duties as assigned by the Media Services Supervisor

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree with Major in Mass Communications, Television/Broadcast, Film or Theatre Production or related technical field
Minimum of one years experience in the support of audio-visual equipment preferably in a conference and/or live production/performance setting or in an academic classroom setting
Minimum of one years experience in video and audio production including videography and video editing

Technology Skills:
Proficiency with the operation of visual presentation, sound, lighting and audio-visual control equipment
Proficiency with the operation of video and audio studio equipment
Proficiency with computer based video and editing systems
Proficiency with both Mac and Windows operating systems
Proficiency with providing live sound engineering for a variety of event types
Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new technical skills
Ability to estimate time requirements for tasks and to deliver results as scheduled

Human Relations Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Possess strong customer service skills
Ability to supervise several student employees
Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to coordinate multiple assignments/projects simultaneously
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with a diverse group of customers and colleagues
Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission

Special Requirements:
Valid drivers' license and ability to be insured under the University's insurance plan preferred
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
