Position Information
The Director oversees all services provided by the International Students and Scholars Office (ISS) and manages a full range of activities that support the enrollment, academic and social success, retention, lawful statutes, personal well-being, employment and travel of international students and scholars. Manages international education, I-20 functions, exchange programs, advising services, and outreach activities, including responsibility of approximately 2,500 international students and Scholars, International Students and Scholars facility operations, fiscal planning, and community involvement. Develops and implements a strategic plan for the International Students and Scholars unit. Oversees career staff, student assistants, and the unit's budget. Collaborates with campus colleagues to increase international student enrollment, expand and enhance support to international students and scholars and create new opportunities that will significantly increase cultural engagements between international and domestic students and scholars. The director is responsible for establishing and sustaining an organizational culture of service excellence and collaboration. The budgeted hiring amount for this position is up to $107,000.00 depending on the qualifications of the final candidate.


Minimum Requirements
Current working knowledge of immigration federal laws and regulations, as well as knowledge of SEVIS reporting requirements.
Ability to analyze, plan, organize, challenge and lead staff, volunteers, academics and other campus units to maximize opportunities and benefits of the university international resources.
Ability in problem identification, reasoning.
General knowledge of Department of Homeland Security, State Department, Department of Labor regulations affecting international faculty, students and researchers.
Skills in monitoring/assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.
Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies and procedures.
Demonstrated success in marshaling organizational wide cooperation in developing organizational initiatives, programs, policy and problem-solving.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuade others, and lead.


Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
