We are searching for an experienced Assistant Professor, Photography at our Santa Maria Campus facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PHOTOGRAPHY
This is a full-time, 175-day (10-month annual contract) tenure-track faculty position in the Fine Arts Department, with an emphasis in analog and digital photography. The successful candidate must have experience teaching a full range of photography courses including basic black and white (film and darkroom), basic and advanced digital, commercial, photojournalism, alternative processes and portrait. Experience with online learning is desirable. The position includes responsibilities for planning, coordinating and scheduling photography classes, as well as responsibilities for budget, equipment and supplies. The instructor will participate in program review and curriculum development; review and revise content of course(s) as necessary; maintain five (5) required office hours per week for student consultation; participate in department and college activities; maintain class and examination schedules as well as grade and attendance records according to college regulations; and perform related tasks as required. The assignment may include teaching in the evenings and on weekends at any college site.

Additional responsibilities may include the following: providing outreach to local high school programs, promoting the photography program in the community and maintaining an advisory committee.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Hiring salary range is $54,736 to $78,079 depending uponeducation and experience. A doctoral stipend of $2,500 is paid annually.

QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE
The governing board seeks an individual with the following minimum qualifications:
1. Master's in photography, fine arts, or art OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in art history or humanities OR the equivalent per Board Policy 7211.

2. Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and community college students and of staff and students with disabilities.

3. Demonstrated ability to:
teach the full range of photography courses from analog to digital and includingcommercial
understand contemporary photographic practice and the history of photography
teach photography as an online course
develop and use course materials and incorporate current technology
use multimedia technology in classroom instruction
plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts
communicate effectively, both in oral and written communication
work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals
establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
apply evaluation and assessment methods
identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements

4. Knowledge of:
course design, evaluation, and assessment methods which enhance student learning
interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to instruction
currency in the instruction of biology
demonstrated experience in teaching strategies that address the needs of students with a variety of learning styles
