Job Summary:

California State University, Fullerton is searching for a Director of Academic Technology Center. The Director of Academic Technology Center should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Director of Academic Technology Center reports to the AVP/IT/Academic Technology. Directs the development, management, and evaluation of all central academic technology services and technologies that support teaching, learning, and research at CSUF. Guides the research, evaluation, and facilitation of innovative applications of technology in on-campus and online learning programs as well as decisions surrounding technology tools such as the learning management system.

Responsible for the strategic leadership and direction for all campus academic technology applications, initiatives, and support services. Works in collaboration with the departments within Faculty Support Services, including Faculty Affairs and Records, Faculty Development Center, Online Education and Training department to create a Faculty Commons space that equips faculty with support and resources.

Collaborates with Academic Affairs and Academic Senate for operational and strategic planning and analyzes policy related to academic computing such as e-learning, instructional technology, and research and assessment. Ensures that academic technology issues and requirements are incorporated into the university's overall technology plan. Establishes oversight and direction for our technology footprint in distributed campus classrooms, including computerized labs and classrooms. Investigates and responds to faculty and administrative technology needs, identifies business process improvements when possible. Provides project leadership, which may involve the selection and deployment of new technologies. Maintains an external focus regarding learning and academic technology needs, such as how they may relate to course delivery options and classroom technologies.

Understands industry trends in order to provide leadership in identifying, prioritizing, researching, deploying and assessing emerging technologies that support the Campus missions. Provides a technology rich learning environment. Manages and develops professional and technical staff. Supports academic quality in our teaching and learning environment and promotes teamwork and a positive environment for students, faculty, and staff. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least eight years of professional work experience required including a minimum of five years of related experience in academic/technology leadership. Experience managing staff and developing professional and technical staff. Operational planning experience demonstrated experience and success in aligning technology investments and services with academic priorities.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
